Out there in the big blue,
dolphins living in sheer bliss ever optimistic about life,
embracing the ocean’s challenges.

Dolphins have been a constant source of inspiration in my life. As they swim the ocean in search for food there is always time to play along their journey. Surfing waves along the shorelines, on the bow of an enormous ship, leaping out in excitement as they go. These magical creatures have given human kind a sense of responsibility towards their planet and made us aware of how delicate our planet really is.
To this day I get so excited when I see a school of dolphins swimming up my coastline along the back line of the north coast Kwazulu Natal.
My first encounter of dolphins was at the Durban Aquarium seeing them leap out of the water I was totally in awe. I was 8 years old when these beautiful creatures crept into my heart and I knew from that day I wished to live near coast. I grew up on the outskirts of Johannesburg, where there was an element of nature with a little stream trickling past the bottom of our property and expanse of veld beyond our wall where we would go for long walks up a little hill not far from our house admiring the wonderful bird life. My appreciation for nature came from my mother who always encouraged siblings and myself to enjoy the outdoor life.
When I was a child every time we came to the coast for a holiday I would always imagine myself living there permanently. Fortunately my dream came true and I’ve landed up living in what I feel is paradise.
I have had the opportunity to encounter dolphins in the ocean diving along the south coast of Kwazulu Natal and after diving feel in absolute euphoria at being able to share moments with them.
In my life I waited to have children, as there was always something else I wanted to achieve before having them, as I saw children stopping my life and stopping what I wanted to achieve. One day whilst watching a school of dolphins with young and old, I realised that a lot of my dreams I could share with children and now my dream of going to America to swim with dolphins can be done with my two beautiful children and what’s more perfect is that I can share this experience with them and pass on my passion to them.
